Hey, I'm Caleb. In this video, I'll teach you exactly how to set up Nemo Claw step-by-step so you can run your own private AI assistant with a real security built around it. So, what is Nemo Claw? In simple terms, Open Claw is the actual AI assistant, and Nemo Claw is what helps secure it. Open Claw is the part you actually use to chat, and Nemo Claw adds a secure layer around it, which helps control what the assistant can access and do. Nemo Claw is super important because when you're giving an AI assistant access to your accounts and data, security really matters. And Nemo Claw is designed to help with that. So, here's how this will work. First, we'll deploy Nemo Claw on a VPS using a pre-built template. So, that way you don't have to set up everything from scratch yourself. Then, we'll go through the onboarding process, connect your AI model, set up browser access, and then access the Open Claw dashboard. Then, after that's all done, we'll set up Telegram so you can message your assistant and make sure everything is working properly. By the end of this video, you'll have a fully working Nemo Claw setup giving you your own secure AI assistant. It's ready to chat from your browser or your phone. All right, let's go ahead and get started. For this setup, we'll be using a Hostinger VPS. Since you'll want something like this running 24/7, it makes a lot more sense to host it in the cloud instead of leaving it on your own computer all the time. Hostinger also has a pre-built Nemo Claw template, which makes this setup a lot easier. And a similar setup through Nvidia's own platform ends up being significantly more expensive than Hostinger. So, in the end, Hostinger ends up being the more practical, beginner-friendly, and affordable option for most people. To get started, go to this link on screen right here or click the first link in the video description. That link will take you directly to the correct setup page and make sure you're getting the lowest pricing available. And once you go to that link, you'll be brought to this page right here. Click on choose plan. And that's going to bring you down to the VPS plan options. For this setup, I'd recommend going with the KVM 2 plan. In order for Nemo Claw to run properly, you'll need at least 8 GB of RAM, which the KVM 2 plan gives you. You'll also get two virtual CPU cores, 100 GB of NVMe disk space, and 8 TB of bandwidth. So, KVM 2 is going to be perfect for running Nemo Claw. From here, I'll click on choose plan. And here at the top, you can start by choosing your billing period. By default, this will be set to 24 months, which is a pretty long-term commitment. You can switch this from 24 months to 12 month and 1 month plans, as well. I'd personally recommend going with the 12 month option. With this, you're still getting plenty of savings, a free domain for the first year, and you're not locked in for such a long term. Now, scrolling down the page here, you'll have an option for daily auto backups. You can turn this on if you want to. And then below this, you'll have to choose a server location. By default, Hostinger is going to choose the server location with the best latency for you. So, I'm just going to leave this as the default location. And the last thing here is our operating system. You'll see options for a plain OS, an OS with a control panel, and applications. We'll click into application. Then here, we'll search up Nemo Claw. And you'll see it appear right here. We'll click on this. Then go ahead and click on confirm. And there we go. Now, we have access to the Nemo Claw template. Let's scroll up to the top of the page. And you can review your order here on the right. And don't forget to use the first link in the video description to get an additional 10% off your plan. Once you're happy with everything here, go down and click on continue. On this page here, you'll need to register for a Hostinger account. So, go ahead and enter your email address and then create a password. Go down and click on register. And after that, you'll need to enter your billing address and then your payment information. Go ahead and fill out everything here, and I'll meet you at the next step. And then once you're here, click on get started. Now, after that, you'll need to set up your root password. Click on generate. Then I'll click on this eyeball button here to reveal it. Then I'll copy this. And I'll save this somewhere safe. Once you save that, go down and click on next. Click on finish setup. And now, Hostinger is going to go ahead and get your Nemo Claw VPS setup for you. This can take a few minutes, so I'm going to fast forward to whenever it's complete. Okay, now here we are in our Hostinger VPS dashboard. The first thing we'll do here is go over to the top right and click on terminal. And that's going to open up our VPS browser terminal. This is where we're able to send out commands and talk directly to our VPS. And I want to mention here that if you check the video description, you're going to find a very important guide. I created a full Nemo Claw setup guide that you can have open in another tab or on another monitor, and that's going to show you all of the different commands that I use throughout this video. And we'll be starting in step one, which is open the terminal and start onboarding. And for the commands that I'm using throughout this video, you'll see numbers appear in the top right that will indicate which command I'm currently using from the setup guide. So, if you're ever confused at any point in the video, just reference the number in the top right, and it'll tell you exactly what command we're using next. The first command that we're going to enter here is Nemo Claw onboard. Type that in and then press enter. And then here, you'll need to type yes and enter. Type Y and send that. And then here, you'll need to choose your AI model provider. You'll have options from Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini. For this video, I'll be going with OpenAI. So, in my case, I'll type two then press enter on the keyboard. And then here, I'll need to get my OpenAI API key. And it's going to give me a link to go to here in order to get that. So, go ahead and follow the link that's listed on your screen, create your API key, and then bring it back here. All right, so I now have my API key here, so I'm going to paste it in. I'll press control, shift, and V on my keyboard. Then press enter. And for my model here, I'm going to go with the mini. So, I'll type two and press enter. The next thing it's going to ask us here is we want to enable Brave web search. This is going to allow your assistant to use the internet to search up things for you. In my case, I do want to include this. So, I'll type Y and press enter. And here, it's going to give us another link to go to. Here, you'll need to create an account, set up billing, and get your API key for Brave search. So, I'll go ahead and do that real quick off camera. So, now I have my Brave search API key, so I'm going to paste that in here and press enter. And here, we'll have three options for different messaging channels. In this video, I just want to go with Telegram. However, you do have access to Discord and Slack. Since I just want Telegram, I'll type one and send it. And here, since we're using Telegram, we need to set up a bot with BotFather. For this step, you'll need to get the Telegram desktop app or mobile app. In my case, I'll be using the Telegram desktop app. So, I'll go ahead and open that up on my computer. And then here at the top, I'm going to type @ BotFather. And you're looking for this one right here with the verified check mark. Click on this. Then go to the bottom here and click on start. From here, go up and click on new bot. And now, we need to give our bot a name. I'll name this Nemo Claw assistant and send it. And then we'll need to choose a username for the bot that ends in the word bot. So, for example, you could type something like this. Medics media Nemo Claw bot and enter. And now, we've created our new bot. You'll have this link right here to access it, and then your token right here. Go ahead and click on it to copy it. Then head back over to your browser terminal. And go ahead and paste in the bot token from Telegram right here. Press enter. And then we need to get our Telegram user ID. So, go back over to Telegram. Go back to the search bar at the top. Then here, type in @ user info bot. And you're looking for this one right here. Go ahead and click on this. Then go down and click on start. And then it's going to send you your Telegram user ID. Go ahead and click on it to copy it and switch back over to your browser terminal. Now, paste it in right here and send it. Now here, we need to create a name for our sandbox. In my case, I'll go with the default name, which is my-assistant. However, you can name this whatever you want. So, I'll type in my name here and press enter. And now, your Nemo Claw sandbox is going to be created on your VPS. This process can take a few minutes to complete, so I'm going to fast forward to whenever it's done. Okay, and once everything is created, you're going to see this screen here that says available policy presets. By default, we'll have some stuff already selected like Brave, NPM, PyPI, and Telegram. I'd recommend at the very least leaving all of these default ones here. But then you'll have some other options like Brew, Discord, Docker, and others. You You use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the indicator up and down. And you can press the space bar on your keyboard to toggle them on and off. The only thing that I'll be enabling here is Brew. So, I'll press space bar to toggle it on. The reason why I'm doing this is because later on, if you want to install different types of skills, this is helpful to have. So, with Brew toggled on, I'm going to press enter on my keyboard. And now it's going to configure our sandbox to allow all of these different policy presets. And this again will take a few minutes to complete. Okay, now we have finished the Nemo Claw onboarding. You're going to see this link appear right here, and this string of numbers and letters on the right side is your Open Claw Gateway token. So, you're going to go ahead and copy this entire string here. And then I'm going to copy it by pressing control and C on my keyboard. And in some cases, that actually might send a command into your terminal. So, if that's happening to you, go ahead and highlight it again. And then you can right-click on it. And then you can go up and find copy right here. Just go ahead and click on this. And now you want to save this token somewhere safe on your computer. So, I'm going to go ahead and write this down somewhere. And once you have that saved, I want to mention very quickly that for this token and any of the other tokens throughout this video, make sure you don't share them with anybody. I'm only showing you my tokens throughout this video because I plan on completely deleting the setup whenever I'm done. Since you've seen my tokens, they're now considered compromised. And if somebody gets access to your tokens, they can access your entire setup. So, be very careful. Okay, with that done, let's go ahead and move into step two, which is creating the firewall within Hostinger. For this step, let's begin by switching back over to our Hostinger tab here. Then go down and click into security. Click on firewall. Then go down and click on firewall right here. For the name, I'll just name this Nemo Claw firewall. And click create. Then to edit this firewall, go to the right side here and click on these three dots. Click on edit. Then let's go down here and add in two different firewall rules. For the action, leave this on accept. Then for the protocol, change this to TCP. For the port, change it to 80. And then for the source, change this to anywhere. Click on add rule. Then we'll add in one more. For the protocol, set this to TCP again. For the port, change this to 443. Source to anywhere. And click add rule. Now with those two rules added, let's scroll up to the top. Click on the back button. And then turn the firewall on. Click on activate. And now wait here for 1 to 2 minutes for everything to sync up properly with your VPS. And once you see this message right here, that means that everything has been synchronized properly. All right, and that completes step two. Let's go ahead and move on to step three, which is where we'll install Caddy on the VPS host. Installing Caddy is what's going to allow us to access our Open Claw dashboard using a regular domain with encryption. So, it's a pretty important step for securing your setup here. First, click into overview on the left. And here at the top, you'll find your Hostinger subdomain. Go ahead and highlight this. Copy it down. And then you want to save this somewhere as well. We're going to need access to this subdomain a few different times in the next few minutes. And once you have that saved, switch back over to your browser terminal. And then again, within the guide listed in the video description, I'm going to begin copying and pasting in some commands. Just as a reminder, we're currently on step three. So, I'm going to start with the first command listed at the top of step three. I'm going to go ahead and copy it. And then in my browser terminal, I'll go ahead and paste it in. Press enter. And now let's go ahead and copy and paste in the second command. Go ahead and send this. Now let's do the same thing for the third command. Now let's copy and paste in the fourth command. Press enter. And lastly, let's copy and paste in the fifth and final command. All right, and with that done, that completes step three. Let's move on to step four, which is where we connect the subdomain to the gateway port. So, for this step, I would actually recommend configuring the next command within a text editor. So, I'm going to copy the command listed at the top of step four. And then I'll go ahead and open up my text editor. I'm going to paste in that command. And you'll see this placeholder text right here that says your full subdomain. Go ahead and highlight this just like this. And then go ahead and copy your Hostinger subdomain that we saved earlier. And then here on the highlighted placeholder text, right-click on it. Click paste. And then you'll copy this entire command here. Then switch back over to your browser terminal. Paste in that whole command right here. And press enter. And then paste in the second command for That completes step four. Now it's time to move on to step five, where we allow our subdomain in Open Claw. So, let's begin by copying and pasting the first command from step five. Send that here. Then copy and paste the second command. Then we'll copy and paste in the third command. And then for the fourth command, where we add our subdomain, I would also recommend editing this within a text editor. So, I'll go ahead and open up my notepad here. Then I'm going to paste in command four right here. From here, you'll want to find the placeholder text. Go ahead and highlight it like we did before. And then copy your Hostinger subdomain. Then go ahead and right-click on that text. Paste it in. And your command will be ready. The one thing I want to mention here is to make sure that you leave the https:// untouched. If you accidentally copy and paste over this, then it's not going to work. So, make sure you leave this here. All right, with that done, let's go ahead and copy this entire command. And let's head back over to the browser terminal. Let's go ahead and paste it in right here. And press enter. Now go ahead and copy command five. Paste that in here. And then you should see your subdomain listed right here. And that shows us that we're good to go. And then to exit this container, let's type in exit. And press enter. And that wraps up step five. Now it's time to move on to step six, where we check that the gateway is running. For these commands here, we're actually going to type these out. So, start by typing Nemo Claw. And then you want to enter your sandbox name. We created this a little bit earlier during the onboarding. In my case, I chose the default name, which was my-assistant. But if you named this something else, you'll use that name. After that, just type connect. Press enter. And you'll see that we change from the root user to the sandbox user. So, this means that we're currently operating within our Nemo Claw sandbox. Once you're here, type in Open Claw gateway status. Press enter. And here we're looking for RPC probe okay. If this appears right here for you, that means everything is up and running properly. And that completes step six. Now let's move on to step seven. Let's refresh the port forward and open our Open Claw dashboard. For step seven, make sure you're on the root user. You may still be in your sandbox here. To get back to your root user, type exit. Press enter. And you'll be back to root here. Let's start by copying and pasting the first command from step seven. Paste that in right here. And once again, you're going to see this placeholder text. Make sure you change this to your sandbox name. So, I'll erase this here. Then type my-assistant. Press enter. And now copy and paste in the second command from step seven. Paste it in here. And once again, if you have the placeholder text here, make sure you change it. With this pasted in, I'm going to press enter on my keyboard. And now with that done, we should be able to access our Open Claw dashboard by using our Hostinger subdomain. So, I'm going to switch back over to my Hostinger tab here. Then I'm going to right-click on my subdomain right here. Then I'll go to it. And this brings me to my Open Claw control panel. From here, click into overview. And then right here, you'll need to paste in your Open Claw gateway token. We saved this earlier on in the video. So, go ahead and find where you saved that, copy it down, then head back over and paste it in right here. Go down and click on connect. And here you'll see that the status changed to okay. Now, before we finish up step seven, I want to quickly mention this update available banner right here at the top. Here you'll see an update now button right next to it, but in this setup, clicking that button is not actually going to update Open Claw. And you also can't really update Open Claw normally through the terminal, either. And the reason for that is because of this Hostinger Nemo Claw setup is being deployed from a template, and that template has a specific version of both Open Claw and Nemo Claw baked into it. And at the same time, Nemo Claw, Hostinger, and Open Claw are all updating at their own pace. So, depending on when you're watching this video, and depending on the exact template and image your VPS was created from, you may not actually be able to update to the latest version of Open Claw. So, at the moment with this setup, if you truly need the newest version, the main workaround is usually to start fresh on a clean VPS and go through the Nemo Claw onboarding process again once everything is updated and in sync. But, the good news here is that in most cases, everything will still work perfectly fine. And now with all of that out of the way, step seven is now complete, so we can move into step eight, where we can test our Telegram connection. So, I'm going to go ahead and open up my Telegram desktop app, and then I'll switch back over to my Bot Father conversation. Now, to open up a conversation with my assistant, all I have to do is click on this link right here. Then go down and click on start. And now our assistant should automatically start typing, and we should see a message down here shortly. And here, if you see that the bot responds to your message on Telegram, that means that everything is working end-to-end. And now from here, you can begin installing skills for your assistant and creating new jobs. So, for example, right here, I can go down and type, "I'm running a Nemo Claw setup with Open Claw on a Hostinger VPS. Can you walk me through installing skills and creating jobs?" So, go ahead and send a message like this to your assistant. And then from here, your assistant is going to message you back with, in my case, a ton of information regarding what I should do next. And this is a really good example, even though this is a ton of information, and in this video it would be hard for me to break down exactly what you should do next for your setup, you can work with your assistant just like this to figure out what you want to do and how to do it next. And if you describe your setup exactly like I did, it's going to give your assistant the context to really help you out. One of the first skills that I recommend setting up on a new Open Claw setup is a Google Workspace skill. That way, if you give it access to your Google Workspace, it can read your Gmail, your calendar, and give you daily briefs. And if you want to browse the skills that are available for Open Claw, you can check out the websites listed in the video description. From there, you're going to see a link to a website called ClawHub, which is a list of tons of different skills, and then you're also going to find the GitHub skills directory. These are both great resources that you can use to find new skills, along with asking your assistant to help you out with finding them. Just be careful with which skills you install, cuz some of them can be malicious, so just be very careful with installing third-party skills. And with that done, let's quickly move into step nine, which is allowing new integrations. So, one of the big things that makes this setup different from a regular Open Claw setup is that Nemo Claw will block everything by default. So, if you want your assistant to actually install a new skill, you'll need to tell Nemo Claw to allow it. And there are two ways to do this. The first way is by adding a preset. Nemo Claw has built-in presets for most of the common services that you'll need. To add a preset, let's go back over to our VPS terminal. And here, we'll type in Nemo Claw my-assistant policy -add. Press enter. And here, it's going to give you that list of presets that we saw earlier. This list is continuously expanding, so right now when I'm recording this video, there are only 11 available, but later on in the future, there should be more here. The biggest benefit to using these presets is that they're 100% safe to use, and they are the easiest way to add new skills to your Open Claw setup. Now, for skills that aren't listed in this preset list, those can be a little bit trickier with Nemo Claw. To exit this here, I'm going to press control and C on my keyboard, and then I'm going to type in open shell term. Press enter. And this is going to open a live monitoring view, where you can see exactly what Nemo Claw is blocking in real time. Whenever you're testing out new skills, you'll leave this terminal UI open, then go trigger the action that you want your assistant to do. If Nemo Claw blocks it, the blocked request will appear here in the terminal UI. You'll then review the request, approve it if it makes sense, then test the action again. And if you ever need to allow a custom service that doesn't have a preset, you can check the Nemo Claw docs on customizing your network policy. I'll leave a link to that in the video description. And then from here, going forward, you'll manage everything regarding your Nemo Claw VPS through your Hostinger dashboard. Here on your overview tab, you can see all of your resources and your current usage. And then on the left, you have your settings, your operating system and control panel. Here you have backups and monitoring. If you click into it here, you can manage your backup schedule. And then if you scroll down, you can also create a snapshot. I would recommend doing this anytime you're about to make a major changes to your VPS. Here you can also adjust your security settings and manage your DNS settings as well. And if you ever need help with your Hostinger VPS, you can reach out by going to the top right here and clicking on ask AI. Well done, you finally got your own assistant up and running. Do keep in mind that Nemo Claw is still alpha software, so things are moving fast, and the setup will likely keep improving and also change slightly over time, especially with those Hostinger and Open Claw updates.
