Hostinger n8n Setup Tutorial - Step by Step (2026)

Hey, my name is Caleb and in this video I'll show you step by step how to set up NADN on a Hostinger VPS. And the first step is to sign up for Hostinger. Make sure to use the first link in the video description to sign up. This is our special partner link which will give you an additional 10% discount on any plan you choose with Hostinger. And once you click on that link, you'll be brought to this page here. Let's first click on the purple claim deal button. And that's going to scroll you down to the hosting plans. Hostinger recommends going with the KVM2 plan for better specs, but for this tutorial, we'll be going with the KVM1 plan to maximize our savings. And don't worry if you need more resources later on. You can upgrade your plan at any time. Now, click on choose plan. Next, you'll need to choose your plan period. You can choose between 24 months, 12 months, and 1 month. I would recommend going with the 24-month plan. This comes out to just about $449 a month. The 12-month plan also works, but it is a little bit more expensive, and I wouldn't recommend going with the one-month plan. This will renew at a much higher cost, and it doesn't actually give you the extra 10% off. So, again, to maximize our savings, I'll be going with the 24-month plan. You'll also see an option here for daily auto backups, and this comes out to $3 a month. This will keep your VPS data backed up every single day, so it's always safe and easy to restore. So, if you feel like you need it, it's definitely worth adding. Next, you'll have to choose the server location that makes the most sense for you. This will depend on where your audience is and what you're using your VPS for. In my case, since I'm in the US, I'll just go with the server that has the best latency for me, and I'll select it here. Then, scrolling down to the bottom here, we'll need to select our operating system. In the search bar, go ahead and type in N8N. And then, you'll see it pop up down here. Go ahead and click on it and click on confirm. Perfect. Now, let's scroll back up to the top and click on the purple continue button to move on. Next, you'll need to enter your email address and password to sign up for a Hostinger account. And once that's all filled out, go down and click on the purple register button to complete the sign up process. On this page here, you'll have to enter your billing address and payment information. Then, once you filled out everything here, click on submit payment to move on. And there we go. We are now ready to get started setting up our VPS. Now you'll have the option to either create a root password, which is what you're going to use to log into your VPS, or you can set up an SSH key, which will let you access the VPS without a password. You can choose whichever method works best for you. For this video, I'll be creating a root password. So, I'll go ahead and enter that here. Then, scroll down and click on next. Next, you'll see the option to add a free malware scanner. There's no downside in keeping this enabled and it adds an extra layer of protection for you. So I'll leave this selected and click on finish setup. And with that done, our VPS is now being set up for us. This can take about 5 minutes to complete. So I'm going to go ahead and fast forward and I'll meet you at the next step. Now everything is ready to go. Let's click on manage VPS to get to our VPS dashboard. You may get a small onboarding survey here. I'm going to scroll down and click on skip. And now we're here in the VPS dashboard. And there's one more important step that we need to do next. Let's go ahead and get Naden properly set up on the server so everything is running smoothly. To do that, let's first go to the top right and click on manage app. Now you'll set up your NAN account by entering your email, first name, last name, and password. Once you have all that information filled out, go down and click on next. Next, you'll see an option to get paid features for free. You can do this by entering your email to receive a license key. Make sure the email shown here is correct. It should be the same one that you just used during signup. From here, click on send me a free license key. This is going to send an email to your inbox with an activation code and a link. Once it comes through, just follow the link in the email. And the steps from there are pretty straightforward. So I'll click on send me a free license key. Nice. And now we've now signed up for NADM. From here you'll have the option to create your first workflow. You can either start from scratch or try out a simple AI agent example. Both are good ways to test things out and see how everything works. Now for the next step, we need to make sure we verify our Hostinger account. So, if you navigate back to the email that you used for your hosting or signup, you should see a message titled verify your email address. Go ahead and open this, then click on the purple verify email button. Perfect. Now, our email address is verified. And as you can see here, our VPS is now successfully running. Now, we're almost there. Everything is nearly set up, but there is one last important step. We need to make sure N8 is updated to the latest version. So you're running on the most current release. To do this, let's click on manage. Then go to the top right and click on the browser terminal. Now, this will open a black and white terminal window. And if you never used a command line interface before, this might look a little bit intimidating, but we're only going to be entering a few simple commands. And I'll also have them listed in the video description, so you can simply copy and paste them in, or you can type them along with me step by step. So go to the bottom here and click in. And you'll see this white rectangle appear. Let's type in our first line of code. We're going to type in docker compose pull. Then press enter or return on your keyboard. And when it's done, you'll see a couple of green check marks appear. Now we need to remove the old version of nad. To do this, type in docker compose down. Then press enter or return on your keyboard. And once it's done, you'll see those green check marks appear again. Now, we need to start the new version of NAD. To do this, type in docker compose up dash d. You want to make sure that the dash and the d are together while all of the other words are spaced apart. Let's press enter or return on our keyboard. And you'll see those green check marks appear again. That indicates that everything was done correctly. And when the update is finished, just simply close out of this tab. And now everything should be ready and good to go with your VPS.
